This weekend we were introduced to Mr Chicken. The kids were immediately captivated; Master Four Year Old took Mr Chicken Lands on London to bed with him.
Review by Master Four Year Old:
I like Mr Chicken Lands on London because of Mr Chicken’s nose. The pictures are just funny.
And Master Six Year Old:
I like the page where he floats away in a hot air balloon and then in another one when he’s coming down in a parachute from his country to another country. I like that he can go anywhere in the world. My favourite part is when he calls the Queen of London.
Many thanks to the State Library of Victoria which held a Kids’ Big Book Spectacular this weekend. It featured an exhibition of illustrations by the newly announced Australian Children’s Laureate Leigh Hobbs, and author of Mr Chicken’s exploits (among other things).
Blurb: Mr Chicken can’t wait another minute, so he finishes his breakfast, collects his camera and flies to London. He wants to see everything.
